PURE3D took part in the International Computer Applications in Archaeology (CAA) conference in 2023, held in Amsterdam. At the conference, the team organised a workshop titled ‘Developing 3D Scholarly Editions: Storytelling in Three Dimensions’. This workshop welcomed researchers and educators interested in utilising 3D-based narratives for their projects. Participants were introduced to the PURE3D project and its infrastructure, highlighting its role in facilitating the development of richly annotated narratives centred around 3D models. The workshop featured a tutorial on the Voyager platform, led by Kelly Gillikin Schoueri, to familiarise participants with its functionalities. They began by recreating a simplified version of the 25 Northumberland Road edition (one of PURE3D’s pilot projects), gaining practical experience in using the platform. Subsequently, participants worked on creating editions based on 3D models from their own projects, putting their newly acquired skills to use. This hands-on experience provided valuable insights into both the strengths and weaknesses of the PURE3D interface and gave the project team valuable feedback for the further development of the infrastructure.
