Recognising and Rewarding Digital Scholarship: Towards a New Framework for the Publication and Evaluation of 3DScholarly Editions

The Association for Computers and the Humanities (ACH) held ACH 2024 as a virtual conference, from November 6-8, 2024. The PURE3D and OPER3D project teams presented their ongoing work on developing a framework for setting up standards for the publication of 3D scholarship in the form of 3D scholarly editions. The presentation focused on the preliminary results derived from focus groups with researchers and publishers, one on one interviews with researchers focused on 3D technologies, and a survey designed for 3D researchers and those with experience in academic publishing and reviewing. By collecting information based on the experiences and wishes of 3D based researchers and those working with multimodal publishing, we are able to begin to understand the reforms that are needed in order for 3D scholarship to take its place as a recognisable and trusted research output.
